01How it works

A “village hotel” spread across the area

BASE stays are empty houses in Kaga that we have renovated one by one. More than 20 of them are scattered from the Kurosaki and Katano coast to the satoyama hills.

Every house is rented out whole. You get your food from the local fish shop or our BBQ partners, and head out from the house to hot springs and activities. With the house as your base, the surrounding area becomes your garden.

The more of you there are, the lower the cost per person. Suited to long stays and group trips.

A fully equipped kitchen

Fridge, microwave, cookware and tableware. Cook what you bought locally, together.

A garden for BBQ and fires

BBQ and campfires are possible outdoors.

Clean bathrooms and amenities

Showers, baths and toilets are kept clean, and towels and amenities are provided, so you can travel light.

Bring anything you like

Bring your own food, drinks and games, and arrange the stay your way.

Arrive at the house

After check-in, the whole house is yours. Drop your bags and take a look around.

Buy local fish

At Maruya Suisan, in front of Hashidate port, you can pick fish landed that day and have it cleaned on the spot.

03Day 1 · Sunset

Watch the sun set over the sea

From the seaside houses the beach is a short walk. Go and watch the sun go down over the Sea of Japan.

04Day 1 · Evening

Cook and eat together

Cook the fish in the kitchen or barbecue in the garden. BBQ sets from our partners can be ordered too.

Hot springs and day trips

Yamashiro, Yamanaka and Katayamazu hot springs, sea kayaking, seasonal events. Use the house as your base for exploring Kaga.
